Thermocouples

Thermocouples are a very popular form of temperature sensor due to their low cost, versatility and ruggedness. Two different metals are joined together to make a continuous circuit. When a temperature difference occurs between any 2 points in the circuit, an electromotive force (voltage) occurs. There are several types of thermocouples, constructed from different metals with differing temperature ranges and levels of accuracy.
