Petrochemical

The petrochemical industry covers a diverse range of processes that are characterised by highly stringent safety requirements. The products being made or used may have corrosive properties or be highly flammable. Sensors must have a form of protection, such as a thermowell, to operate correctly in such environments and RTD sensors can be immersion or surface mounted configurations depending on the conditions.

Oil and gas industries deal with hydrocarbons which require explosion proof (Ex d) or il-intrinsically safe (Ex i) sensor assemblies. Dependable and repeatable level, flow, pressure and temperature measurement are crucial to safe, accurate and continuous process control.

A combination of different classes of thermocouples, RTD sensors supplied with thermowells, as well as infrared temperature sensors and infrared thermal imaging are widely used in monitoring these processes.

The temperature range in cracking and sulphur recovery furnaces can vary from cryogenic temperatures–well below zero–to temperatures above 800°C. These temperatures require a wide range of materials and sensor solutions. RTD sensors provide a more accurate reading and can be used repeatedly in applications below 600°C.

Standard thermowell assemblies, special tube skin thermocouples, and high-temperature ceramic sheathed thermocouples can be considered for high and wide ranging temperature monitoring.

The chemical industries are highly diverse and require sensors perform in highly corrosive environments. Understanding what materials can be used is part of Pyrosales' service in offering the best solution for you.

Special materials such as Hastelloy®, Incoloy®, Tantalum, as well as protective coatings such as Teflon, are supplied to the chemical production industries.

Pyrosales has provided instruments to the Petrochemical Industry for over 30 years, and has in-depth knowledge of the hazardous area requirements and can assist in material selection to provide cost effective solution.

Pyrotenax® MI Cable

Small fires can rapidly escalate into catastrophic proportions when a refinery shutdown system does not function properly. Conventional power and control wiring can fail in a hydrocarbon fire before critical circuits or emergency actions are taken. To ensure the integrity of power and control wiring to emergency block valves and emergency equipment during a fire, the use of, Pyrotenax® MI Cable, could be the option that saves your plant.
